In the spring of 1800, Napoleon led his army through the Alps into Italy to secure that country from the Austrians, an act that inspired one of his most famous portraits, Jacques-Louis David's Napoleon Crossing the Alps. That painting, and Napoleon's stunning mount, Marengo, are the inspiration for my NAN 2009 auction donation. Marengo was Napoleon's favorite Arabian war charger who carried him into battle numerous times.
The model will come with a period correct Dragoon style military saddle, bridle (with bit that goes in his mouth!), and Napoleon himself (and yes he is short!) To see the photos that inspired the tack for this piece, please visit the Sneak Peek page on my website. Please note that the Arab costume pictured below is just to show off how cool this unique pose could be in other performance classes---the headstall and breastcollar do not come with him. He is a 100% Breyer remake (Silver mold) and can be shown at future Breyer sponsored live shows.
